Detroit Chat Opening

Detroit: The Final Nights will be officially open to the public, Monday September 13th, 2010.

Just a few details we would like to inform everyone, the Database is still in the building process with no ETA of when it will be available for use. The Staff has provided Sheet Templates to be used to post sheets to the forum. This shouldn't really be a problem as this is how a game is usually ran Table Top wise in the first place. Once the Sheet is posted to the appropriate section, the rest is in the hands of the Storytellers. The Staff of Detroit are more than willing to handle matters in this capacity for now.

If you are not comfortable with a long-hand version of doing your sheets, Detroit may not be the place for you. We are trying our best to remain from the norm of the Digi-chat era, the Database for Detroit was just to lighten up the workload for the Staff and to give our support to the creator of the Engine.

Starting today, the Staff will begin to reveal more of the storyline to those involved in Detroit at this moment. Once more, Detroit is scheduled to open its door to the public Officially, September 13th, 2010.

Weekly Experience of 3.5 will begin Sunday September 12th, 2010.

Thank you and welcome to Detroit: The Final Nights.

Detroit Chat Setting

Detroit: Final Nights has been slated to be an invitation-only type of chat, for we are not looking to become a large online chat.  If you stumbled over us and interested in giving us a shot, then all you need to do is join up on the forum and leave us a message letting us know of your account/user name that you wish activated.  It's just that simple.

A run-down of our Venue limits:

  • Mortals - Unlimited.  Characters must be 17 and older, will not be allowing characters with True Faith.  Mortals may be members of the Piaces/Lascola etc. families but they are not part of and nor do they know of the Mafia aspect of the family.  Mortals may be family members to Kinfolk but they are not part of the Nation, they are vanilla mortals.
  • Mafia: La Cosa Nostra 10 Slots; Russian Mafioski 5 Slots.  Players' characters we must request are 18+ due to the Theme of the Mafia Venue.  Mafia characters will have no connection (family-wise) to Vampires or Garou, exception only if/when the Giovanni are allowed for Vampire and whether a separate family for certain tribes (not all), are created.  Once all 15 Slots have been filled, Mafia will be closed to Mafia Submissions, new members of the family will come from those within the Family, yes this means there is a chance mortal members of the family could be draw into the Mafia aspect but again, this is in-game.
  • Vampires: Brujah 1 Slots; Gangrel 5 Slots; Malkavian 5 Slots; Nosferatu 5 Slots; Toreador 3 Slots; Tremere 3 Slots; Ventrue 5 Slots; Caitiff 6 Slots. We have two sections for character creation - Freshly Embraced (using Stats per the Vampire core): Unlimited and Neonate (Detroit Stats): 3 Slots.  Once these Slots (both Clans and Neonate) have been filled, Detroit: The Final Nights will not accept any more Vampire Submissions.  All new Vampires will come through IC-Embracing.
  • Garou: Black Furies 3 Slots, Bone Gnawers 5 Slots, Children of Gaia 4 Slots, Fianna 4 Slots, Get of Fenris 4 Slots, Glass Walkers 5 Slots, Shadow Lords 4 Slots, Silver Fangs 5 Slots, Wendigo 5 Slots, Uktena 5 Slots.  Lupus characters are by invitation from the Storyteller to players who have shown themselves capable with a Homid and who have lost a character in-game.  Once these slots are filled, there will be only acceptance of Kinfolk.  Once a garou has died in-game, those who have only a Kinfolk will have a chance to vie for the new open Slot based on Character History, also those who have lost a garou in-game and did so with good sport, will always be given that option of making a new Garou or be offered a Lupus Slot.

The Staff of Detroit: Final Nights, has agreed to a Head Start.  What this means, we are currently allowing for Character Submissions and allowing folks to get on to playing IC and exploring, what this Head Start does not include is the following:

  • Daily Experience: The game is not officially opened and so we are not giving out Experience Points to those who do use this time to get a feel of their character and interact.
  • Storylines: There will be no Storylines in effect at this time.  There is still much work being done behind the scene and a lot of rewriting for the metaplot as we would like to link all venues together within the metaplot. Update: As agreed upon by the Storytellers, we will put out a few little Storyline nibbles for the players to work with, to give an idea of what Detroit is all about.  Keep in mind, these nibbles of Storylines we put out there may go through a change during this head-start testing period for refinement etc.
  • Vampire Characters: May meeet up with Detroit's Seneschal at this time but do not expect to meet the Prince until the game is officially opened and Courts are arranged.
  • Garou Characters: May visit off to Detroit's Septs.  There is the good chance of meeting the Grand Elder and others associated to the Septs.

Detroit Chat Setting

Detroit: Final Nights is scheduled to start off as an invitation-only type chat with limited slots within the Vampire and Garou venues.  Detroit will be heavily involved in the matter of politics, for both the Vampire and Garou side of the game.  This does not mean we will not have involvement of Combat it is simply our preference to delve into the political arena of boths venues instead.  A game of Social intrigue instead of the constant, Garou vs Wyrm or Camarilla vs Sabbat/Anarch/etc.

Mortals - including Kinfolk and Ghouls - will find that their roles will be more diverse as well.   Just like the other venues, the Mortal characters will have a chance to grow and gain power.  Mortals will find themselves sitting in high position of authority where a Vampire or even a Garou (yes, even a Garou) may vie for this individual.  Does this mean that a Vampire will be going around ghouling every mortal of importance?  They may try but who is to say they were the only one looking or perhaps that particular Mortal has some very power and yet unknown supernatural backing behind them.

In Detroit: Final Nights, it is not the supernatural who ultimately rule the city but the mortals that walk about the world unknowing of what lurks in the dark and what calls either the woods or certain territories in the city their home.  Mortals are the makers and the breakers really, the pawns of Social intrigue.
